The Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide

April 21- May 14: Mercury retrograde. These words can strike fear into the hearts of even the most seasoned witches and spiritualists. From miscommunications to travel mishaps, it seems that everything that can go wrong will go wrong during this cosmic event. But fear not, my fellow sensitive souls, because I am here to offer you the ultimate Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide.
First, let's dive into what Mercury retrograde actually means. When Mercury appears to be moving backward in its orbit, it is said to be in retrograde. This occurs three to four times a year, and each retrograde lasts for approximately three weeks. During this time, communication and technology can go haywire, plans can fall apart, and misunderstandings can occur more frequently than usual. This creates an energetic environment that can affect us in various ways, particularly in our communication, technology, and travel. During this time, the flow of information can be disrupted, causing confusion, delays, and misunderstandings.
To put it in the word's of my dear friend and fellow drag entertainer Anna Staysha, "it can feel as if the wifi signal to our Guides and Guardian Angels is blocked, making it more challenging to receive intuitive guidance and support. It can feel like we are navigating life on our own without the usual divine assistance we are accustomed to."
For spiritually sensitive individuals, this can be especially difficult as we rely heavily on our connection to the spiritual realm for guidance and understanding. However, by being aware of the energetic shifts and taking intentional steps to ground and center ourselves, we can navigate this period with greater ease and grace.
So, how can we navigate this tricky time? One of the most important things to remember is to slow down. Mercury retrograde is not a time to rush or make impulsive decisions. Take a step back and really think things through before making any major moves. This can prevent a lot of unnecessary stress and chaos.
Another key to surviving Mercury retrograde is to double-check everything. That email you just sent? Make sure it went to the right person. That travel itinerary? Make sure all the details are correct. By taking the time to double-check everything, you can avoid potential disasters and save yourself a lot of headaches.
But what about when things do go wrong? It's important to remember that Mercury retrograde is a time for reflection and reevaluation. If a plan falls apart or a project goes awry, take a moment to reflect on what went wrong and how you can learn from it. Use this time to reassess your goals and priorities, and make any necessary adjustments.
As spiritual practitioners, we can also use this time to dive deeper into our spiritual practice. Meditation, journaling, and tarot readings can all be incredibly helpful during Mercury retrograde. These practices can help us to connect with our intuition and gain clarity on any challenges we may be facing.
In addition to these tips, there are also some specific practices that can help witches and spiritualists navigate Mercury retrograde. Here are a few of my favorites:
  1. Cleanse your space regularly. Mercury retrograde can bring up a lot of stagnant energy, so it's important to keep your space clear and energized. Burn sage, palo santo, or any other cleansing herbs that resonate with you.
  2. Carry protective crystals. Crystals such as black tourmaline, amethyst, and labradorite can help to protect your energy and shield you from any negative influences.
  3. Be mindful of your words. During Mercury retrograde, miscommunications can be more common. Be mindful of what you say and how you say it, and try to avoid any unnecessary conflicts.
  4. Practice self-care. Mercury retrograde can be a stressful time, so it's important to take care of yourself. Take a relaxing bath, go for a walk in nature, or indulge in any other self-care practices that help you feel grounded and centered.
Remember, Mercury retrograde is not a time to be feared. With the right mindset and practices in place, you can navigate this cosmic event with grace and ease. So take a deep breath, slow down, and trust that everything will work out in the end. Happy retrograding!
